Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Marila Hotel ("we", "our", "the House") handles the personal data of visitors to marilahotel.com and of guests who write to us. We are committed to processing personal data lawfully, fairly and transparently in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as it applies within the European Economic Area, of which Norway is part.

1. Data controller

The data controller for the personal data described here is Marila Hotel, Fjærland, Norway. You may contact us about this policy or about your data by writing to hello@marilahotel.com.

2. What we collect

When you complete an enquiry form on this website, we ask for your name, email address, arrival date, length of stay and party size, and any message you choose to send. This form is handled in your browser to demonstrate an enquiry; the site does not transmit your details to a server or store them beyond your own device unless you contact us directly by email.

When you email us at hello@marilahotel.com, we receive the details you include in that message so we can reply and arrange your stay.

3. Lawful basis

Where you send us an enquiry or booking request, our lawful basis is the taking of steps at your request prior to entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to guests. Where you consent to optional analytics cookies, our lawful basis for that processing is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

4. Retention

We keep enquiry correspondence only as long as necessary to answer your request and to manage any resulting stay, and no longer than eighteen months after our last contact, unless a longer period is required by law. Analytics data, where you have consented, is retained for up to fourteen months.

5. Your rights

Under Articles 13 to 22 of the GDPR you have the right to be informed about our processing, to access the personal data we hold about you, to rectification of inaccurate data, to erasure, to restriction of processing, to data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, write to hello@marilahotel.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the national data protection authority.

6. Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us operate the House and only to the extent necessary, under appropriate agreements.

7. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date above shows when it was last reviewed.
